From 1968. In the 1960s and ’70s, exhibition drag racer Wild Bill Shrewsberry made a name for himself driving “L.A. Darts”, a series of souped up Dodges and Plymouths provided by Los Angeles and Orange County dealerships. With a powerful engine and the weight shifted to the back of the car, Wild Bill’s big trick was to pop a wheelie for a quarter-mile at over 100 mph!  

I’ve been thinking a lot about Los Angeles’ auto legacy. Since 2014, I’ve been working on a vintage car street photography project called LA Ghost Wheels, and I’ve just launched a blog! I’d love it if fans of this blog could help me get the new one off to a good start! Here’s to wherever the road may lead…
