IMG_0298Rio, Brazil, 2004, photo by Karine ArmenIMG_0299IMG_0300This post on the blog “Adventures in Good Eating” tells of Hackney’s opening in 1912, and how it rose to fame in the late-1920s. The “seafood garden” seated 3,200, taking up a whole block of the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The place burned down in 1963, but was rebuilt. The restaurant remained in the family until 1973 (three generations), when it was bought out. Hackney’s closed in the early 1980s.
