Snail's Postcard Post

Bat Masterson

Look what Mama Snail sent from the Delta King riverboat hotel in Sacramento, California!IMG_9958

IMG_9959N.H. (Noah Hamilton) Rose also deserves a little bio, as one of the intrepid traveling photographers of the West. Rose not only took portraits of the region’s notorious characters (Geronimo, Annie Oakley, Billy the Kid, Belle Starr), but captured the West in action, including photos of Native American (particularly Apache) traditional life, the inpouring of settlers, natural disasters, etc.

Had our lovely night on the Delta King in old Sacramento–Bat Masterson sprang out at me–‘He wore a cane + derby hat…his name was Bat. Bat Masterson.’

Mama Snail’s reference to the theme song of Bat Masterson the TV show (1958-1961):
