Snail's Postcard Post

The Musician Portrait Gallery

Today is Bob Dylan’s 72nd birthday, so I pulled out this postcard for the occasionIMG_5632IMG_5633IMG_5634While I’m at it, why not share my collection of musician portrait postcards?IMG_5636IMG_5638IMG_5639IMG_5641IMG_5642

Jimi Henrix burning his guitar at the Monterey Pop Festival, 1967IMG_5645IMG_5646I’m sure to the despair of the little old ladies–Liberace’s original fans– who ran the place, The Liberace Museum in Las Vegas closed in 2010. Mama Snail visited the museum before then, where she got these postcards for me, and where she learned not to mention anything about Mr. Showmanship being gay so as not to incur the wrath of the little old ladies still in love with him.IMG_5649IMG_5650

Some are mathematicians,
Some are carpenters’ wives.
Don’t know how they all got started,
Don’t know what they’re doing with their lives.

But me, I’m still on the road,
Headed to another joint.
We always did feel the same,
We just saw it from a different point
…Of view.
Tangled up in blue.

–Bob Dylan

(These stanzas have been on my mind lately.)

Happy birthday to R. Zimmerman. What a beautiful photograph of him. The guy has always been cooler than cool. Thanks for sharing, Miss Snail. Hugs from your DT LA friend, Toni
